Introduction

Signalling - Per Trunk Signalling, Common Channel Signalling.SS7 Signalling Types – Connection Oriented Signalling, Connectionless Signalling. Modes of Operation – Associated Mode, Quasi-Associated Mode. The SS7 Network – Service Switching Point, Signalling Transfer Point, Service Control Point, Call Management Services Database, Number Portability Database, Line Information Database, Home Location Register, Visitor Location Register. Signalling Links – Link Types, Linksets, Signaling Routes.

 SS7 Protocol Overview

Overview of the SS7 Layer Model, Levels; One, Two, Three, Four. Covering MTP, SCCP, TCAP INAP and ISUP

 The SS7 Signalling Units

Signalling Units Network Addressing – Point Codes, Global Title Translations. The SS7 Signalling Units – Overview, Fill-In Signal Units, Link Status Signal Units, Message Signal Units Signal Unit Fields – Length Indicator, Flag, Service Information Octet, Backward Sequence Number, Backward Indicator Bit, Forward Sequence Number, Forward Indicator Bit.
